You will find that many people *in their twenties want to live in a big city. *As you all know, Sakura City is not a big city, but a *middle-sized one near Tokyo. Most young people in this city go to schools, universities, or *commute to their off ices in bigger cities. ( ① ) I think they know the *convenience and fun of a big city well. I think it is very *natural. It was very surprising to me. So I wanted to know the reasons.

Now, please look at this *table. I asked the people who *chose to live in the country about their reasons.

Table

Many of them like the country because of the nature. The air is clean there. You can enjoy beautiful f lowers, forests, mountains and rivers. Most of the people who are over 50 years old in this city came from smaller towns or villages when they were young. Maybe they miss their

*hometowns.

*One-fifth of the people that I asked about the reasons think that living in the country is cheaper. ( ② ) A little more than 10% find that it is good to live with nice and friendly people. ( ③ ) Some people also say it is safer to live in the country. I’ve heard that people often don’t *lock the door when they go out in the country.

Now again, I will ask you. Where do you want to live ? Have you changed your answer ? Thank you.
